Journal w/ Jane Park

This summer felt really special! For the first time as a green card holder, I’ve had the privilege of traveling around the US and visiting three states I’d never been to before, all to spend time with different friends. After living in the US for twelve years, there was something really special about seeing this country with new eyes and realizing how, in many ways, that it has already been home. I’m closing out this summer in Oregon, visiting my friend, Erica, whom I’ve known since middle / high school in Canada, through college in Providence, and now as adults living in two different states. I noticed new landscapes, new dress, new kinds of flora and fauna, and personally most notably, completely different smells. This summer really reminded me that sacrificial love for your people bears so much fruit, and I’ve felt the privilege of sharing in each other’s lives across seasons and states. It makes me so grateful for the people who make me feel like I’m home.
